Diane and Bill before the accident
September 19, 2007
This book is dedicated to my sister Diane. I grew up coveting her name, along with her beauty and her character, just as all little sisters wish they were the older one. Diane is my big sister; and I've always been proud of her. So when I wrote my book, I used her name for my main character, simply because I loved it, as I do her. I never intended my novel to be prophetic. This book was written and completed and she had a copy of the manuscript before September 19th.

After Diane's and her husband Bill's very real accident on that day, and now throughout her continued hospitalization and constant rehabilitation; as I became aware my book was to be published so soon, I considered changing my heroine's name, as life had in a very small way imitated fiction. My sister Diane and her husband had been in a terrible accident and Diane would be in for a long and difficult journey on the road back; just like my fictional character had endured.

I decided that the original version should stand as it was written and I'd let the coincidence of having used her name honor my sister, instead of my changing it at the eleventh hour. The book was already in production, when I added this

dedication for her. There was 'no way' I could have foreseen what was to come, when I was writing my book at the beginning. Diane was the vibrant, energetic center of her loving family and had the world by the tail at the inception.

Diane is my real life heroine as are her husband and sons who must share this recovery with her. They tell us it will be a long, slow process, but our hope is boundless. We all join in our determined belief; one day she will recover completely. We and so many friends believe in her, she is much too loved and needed not to show us a miracle. We will all hold on to our faith that God is in control and will take care of the perfect outcome.

Diane is only 64 years old, she was in perfect health before the accident and she is loved by so many people. Bill is still not completely healed yet either and could also really use your prayers. Bill and Diane have been married 46 years and have two wonderful grown sons and two teenage grandchildren that all want their mother and grandmother back home and smiling and talking to them again.

I respectfully request your prayers for my sister Diane Flett, as you begin the adventure Refraction, which is the story of Diane Lindsey who is a purely fictional character along with her entire adventure.

Now please enjoy my book, a suspenseful fiction, intended to be simply entertaining. Thank you so much for reading my novel.
