As a story unfolds there are strange symmetries that we recognize only in retrospect from our life experiences; those moments when a lesson or a perception has a parallel moment in another place or time, a balancing act and a resounding echo, perhaps from our past that influences everything we have to say in the here and now, for our characters and their plot-line. Then there it is; a moment when it feels as if a circle is closing, encompassing and completing something infinitely original and yet familiar. And our written words meld with our deepest thoughts and become fictional yet seep truth too..... and that is the magic of seeing a book leap to life and follow through to 'The End' and being allowed to be a part of the ebb and flow of their actions, recreating whispers of your dreams and experiences.......

If I were to try to describe my method of writing, the best analogy I could give would be 'productive daydreaming'. I am just a narrator to the characters and my hands type simply as their conduit to tell the story.

I am sort of an observer and a receiver; they know where they are going and what they will do and I take dictation and then edit. Sometimes where I think the story-line will go, is completely wrong and they surprise me. The characters begin with my (What ifs?) But then they take over and interact with each new paragraph on their own volition. They sort of become as they go along and I sit back and enjoy them as they frolic.

A certain amount of determination to simply stay in front of the keyboard must be tempered with equal portions of patience, to allow my muse to come out and play. The experience can best be defined as dreamlike. And "No, I'm not schizophrenic." Other writers agree that the characters they start out with often evolve quite differently than they intended and then steal the show.

Writing like life is about being disciplined enough to spend the time it takes to perfect your passions. And passions must be nurtured and then exercised in order to live life fully.

At the beginning of a book all you have are blank pages, but with time it grows, cavorts and evolves into a full rich tapestry. It is an adventure to watch the story unfold and be allowed to go along for the ride.
